Controls AM, AC, SIMA, Fieldbus Interfaces

The basic idea of the integral actuator controls –  i.e. to reduce planning, installation and commissiong time and costs for the end user – is still valid today. As a result many customers have been convinced by the economic advantages. Therefore the number of actuators with integral controls sold grows continuously. The AUMA MATIC AM is the most cost-effective solution for those applications with conventional control of the valves in OPEN-CLOSE duty.Further requirements such as position control, logging of operating data or a fieldbus interface can be met with the  AUMATIC AC.

The controls are of course also available in an explosion-proof version.

With the AUMATIC controls with micro-controller, AUMA offers the 4th generation of integral actuator controls. The design concept: A modular system consisting of functions, communication interfaces and equipment elements, enables the ideal combination for every valve automation problem to be found.

Vital information to the operation, e.g. number of starts or running time, is recorded by the integral data logger. Thereby settings can be checked and -  if required - optimised. Extensive diagnostic functions allow quick corrective actions in the event of a fault.

The AUMATIC AC controls can be combined with the  multi-turn actuators SA,  multi-turn actuators SAR,  and the   part-turn actuators SG.

SIMA Master Station

Fieldbus interfaces

The SIMA master station has a modular design based on industrial personal computer technology and offers various interfaces to communicate with its environment. It can be used as black box to collect all information from AUMA actuators distributed in the field and to put these information in a concentrated form at the disposal of a higher level host system.

Furthermore, the SIMA can operate as stand-alone master station for the control of actuators.

Design features:

  • EMC protected 19" rack
  • Windows user interface
  • Integral server for Internet access worldwide

Functions:

  • Support of redundancy systems
  • Logging and storing of all plant and operating data
  • Local operation and monitoring

Communication:

  • Slaves: PROFIBUS-DP or MODBUS-RTU protocols
  • DCS system: additonally DeviceNet, Ethernet or RS 232

Fieldbus systems are increasingly used to connect process control systems and field devices when it comes to the automation of different tasks and processes in industrial environments. This development is based on the considerable cost reductions during planning and commissioning as well as during operation and maintenance of these systems. Smooth interaction of various field devices is ensured by open international fieldbus standards.

Due the modular AUMA design, all actuators available at AUMA can be equipped with a standardised fieldbus interface such as Profibus or Modbus.
Design principle:
Choosing from a modular system, consisting of actuator controls, fieldbus interfaces, the available transmission media and redundancy concepts, tailor-made solutions for every automation task can be found.

Various fieldbus interfaces are available for the actuator controls  AUMATIC AC and AUMA MATIC AM.
